O presente estudo focaliza aspectos fundamentais da situação do ensino rural em São Paulo, na década de 1930. A temática central é o crescente êxodo da população rural para a cidade, em busca de melhores condições de vida. Privilegiam-se as questões da escola e do professor do campo. Analisa-se a problemática pro meio do discurso de pensadores atuantes na educação paulista: Fernando de Azevedo, Almeida Júnior e Sud Mennucci.Palavras-chave: escola rural, situação do professor, educação paulista na era Vargas.
