MASS MEDIA E SOCIALIZAÇÃO MUSICAL

The text focuses upon the concept of socialization, the unfolding in the process of musical learning, formation and rejection of musical values, attempting to demonstrate to music educators how musical preferences are connected to a dense network of psychological, social and cultural variables. The model of musical socialization developed by the author is based on a survey type of research carried out in the 80’s regarding Italian teens and their musical preferences. It scrutinizes the notion of possible musical knowledge (P.M.K.) understood as the daily relationship with music though which the subjects build their social-cultural knowledge on certain musical codes, independent of teaching intervention. The recognition of the existence of P.M.K. by the author and the understanding of its information mechanisms may be the key to a more efficient dialogue between music educators and teenagers in the school environment.O texto focaliza o conceito de socialização e seus desdobramentos no aprendizado musical, formação e rejeição de valores musicais, buscando demonstrar aos educadores musicais de que maneira as preferências musicais estão atreladas a uma densa rede de variáveis psicológicas, sociais e culturais. Um modelo de socialização musical desenvolvido pelo autor baseia-se em uma pesquisa tipo survey realizada na década de 1980 sobre preferências musicais entre adolescentes italianos. Propõe um exclutínio da noção de Saber Musical Possível (S.M.P.) entendida como sendo o seu saber sócio-cultural sobre determinados códigos músicais, independentemente de uma intervenção didática. Para o autor, o reconhecimento da existência do S.M.P., a compreensão de seus mecaninsmos de formação pode ser a chave para um diálogo mais eficaz entre educadores musicais e adolescentes no ambiente escolar
