O ESPORTE E A MODERNIDADE EM SÃO PAULO: PRÁTICAS CORPORAIS NO FIM DO SÉCULO XIX E INÍCIO DO XX

The objective of this study was to understand how sports were appropriated in Brazil, particularly in São Paulo at the turn of the 20th century. For this, we used as sources: newspapers and magazines that thematized the sport during the study period. Concluded that in the context of the Brazilian culture, the sports were reinterpreted, even though the parameter of European modernity.El objetivo de este estudio fue entender cómo el Brasil reinterpretó los deportes, particularmente en São Paulo a fines del siglo XIX y comienzo del XX. Para ello, se utilizan como fuentes: periódicos y revistas que tuvo como tema el deporte durante el período de estudio. Concluyó que en el contexto cultural brasileño, deportes fueron reinterpretados, a pesar de la influencia de la modernidad europea.O objetivo deste estudo foi entender como os esportes foram apropriados no Brasil, particularmente na cidade de São Paulo no fim do século XIX e início do século XX. Para isto, utilizou como fontes: jornais e revistas que tematizaram o esporte no período estudado. Concluiu que no contexto cultural brasileiro os esportes foram ressignificados, mesmo tendo como parâmetro a modernidade europeia
