Introduction to Documentary Production

In the Documentary Production class at UNO, students work with a cultural non-profit organization, NOLAVie.com. This provides us with partners from the community, such as Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans, Institute of Women and Ethnic Studies, New Orleans Street Exchange (a paper for the homeless), Historic New Orleans Collection, etc. Students produce five-minute documentaries that are streamed on NOLAVie.com and on the organizations’ websites. By working with outside organizations, the students hone both their production (shooting and editing) skills and while gaining important production. The pressure to deliver quality content has a tangible positive impact on student work
