The master thesis examines the role of social networking sites (SNS) in searching social support via sharing posts within one-to-many communication. The theoretical part is devoted to the user motivation to use SNS, personal characteristics of users, the impact of SNS usage on relationships, social support in the SNS environment and the use of one-to-many communication functions. The empirical part focuses on SNS active users aged 18 - 34 years. In focus groups it examines how and when people use SNS relating social support and building social capital.
