This master's thesis deals with the role of food in Korean rituals and beyond them. It is based on the author's field research done in years 2017 and 2019 in South Korea. In the first part, different conceptions of the soul of the deceased in Confucianism and Buddhism are described. Vegetarianism is also discussed in the context of Buddhism. The second part deals with particular offerings, their preparation and differences between various temples. It also explains the relationship between the food and individual ritual actors. Last but not least it describes food in the ritual itself and after the ritual
