Deixis in Contemporary Spanish

The diploma thesis ascertains the difference between using the deictic means in contemporary Czech and Spanish. The theoretic part is at first dealing with placing the deixis within linguistic theories and then it describes the typology of the deictic means in both languages. The last theoretic part deals with spatial deixis and highlights the means of its expression both in Czech and Spanish in a more concrete manner. The practical part ascertains with the help of a parallel corpus the most common Czech equivalents for certain demonstrative pronouns, pronounal demonstrative adverbs and verbs of motion. It also evaluates the frequency of text deixis and situational deixis and in the end, it tries to define the boundaries between each Spanish pronouns and adverbs
