The overuse of antibiotics has caused string of bacteria to develop species of bacteria that heavily resist most of our modern antibiotics. For the past couple months I have been looking for bacteria in our soil that secrete antimicrobial chemicals. These chemicals show signs of inhibiting growth in other bacteria and can potentially be used as a new antibiotic to use against these resilient pathogenic bacteria
