[letterhead]June 6th 1913Dear Friend JohnYour reply to my reqest for help on a church, and other matters, came duly about 6 weeks ago. The request at the best was postponed till 1915, my possible time of coming to your Shore. I fear neither you nor I can build on that. There has been no adverse change with me, but times wearing work goes on. What you notice in the mountains goes on in our mortality, and we can\u27t tell when the catyclism may come.My son\u27s general health is very much improved, he attends to regular office duty every day. His special hip trouble is also slowly improving.I am pleased with your offer to send me your new book, which I see has lately been issued. If not already mailed, please address it to 322-24 Ave Miwaukee Wis. I shall be there in ten days. I think I have all of your books somewhere among my youngsters. The Mountains, Forest Reservations, Dog Story, and your last I forget the title but know the book. I had so much of your old thinking in it.In my writing of our family history I am living the old times over again, and enjoying them well too.Well still hoping to see you sometime, and at least hear from you ocasionally, I remain as ever your sincere old friend,W.
