Platinum(1I) and charged cationic iridium(III) complexes have attracted great interest as luminophores in a myriad of applications. Notably, each class of these complexes has been incorporated into organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), light-emitting electrochemical cells (LEECs), nonlinear optical materials and photovoltaic devices. This thesis reports the synthesis of hybrid Pt-Ir-containing organometallic complexes and polymers with the goal of obtaining high performance luminophores for electroluminescent devices.
