Zoledronic acid effects wound healing and angiogenesis resulting in BRONJ: an in vitro and in vivo study

[Extract] Recent literature suggests that suppressed angiogenesis contributes significantly to the pathogenesis of bisphosphonate (BP)-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) by effecting local vasculature. This in vitro and in vivo study examined the mechanisms by which the anti-angiogenic properties of BP's could lead to the occurrence of BRONJ lesions
