Objective: To develop an educational package on Health Literacy for community pharmacists and pharmacy assistants. Design: An educational package on health literacy was developed which was tailored to the needs of contemporary community pharmacy. A consultative approach was used and included stakeholder knowledge and academic expertise. The package was designed within a theoretical framework and drew on a systematic review of current literature supplemented with other resources. Delivery of the education used a 'train-the-trainer' model with both electronic and face-to-face training implemented for a key staff member(s) per pharmacy, who would then deliver training to remaining staff at their pharmacy.
