Understanding filial piety within the sociocultural contexts, this paper explores elder support among Chinese migrant families in New Zealand. The methods of data collection and analysis were informed by a narrative approach. Three interviews were conducted with 32 older Chinese migrants. Findings suggest that traditional Chinese familial support to aged parents has changed. The traditional familial aged care is interwoven with the reciprocal parental support to children, and the community, social and institutional support. This paper demonstrates that filial piety is evolving within the broader social and political contexts and that the practices of filial piety among Chinese migrant families are fluid, dynamic, and changing.
