In this paper, the reliability and accuracy of a posteriori error estimator are analyzed and verified for hybrid/mixed finite element method (HMFEM). The local error estimate is investigated for a square plate with a square hole and a square panel with cracked wedges. The rate of convergence of h-version adaptive hybrid/mixed finite element method (AHMFEM) is tested and compared with HMFEM, traditional displacement finite element method (DFEM) and adaptive displacement finite element method (ADFEM). A practical and effective adaptive hybrid/mixed finite element analysis is presented. The numerical results show that AHMFEM is the most effective numerical method
