This is an exploration of the phenomenon of new burlesque. The publication questions what the current fascination with striptease means in relation to feminism. The book explores burlesque from an historical perspective - looking extensively at the 1880/90s, 1920/30 and the turn of the new millennium in order to investigate and understand its current significance for many women in terms of sexuality, gender and cultural politics
