Life as you like it

MOT International is the commercial branch of MOT, comprising of contemporary dealership, commercial curatorial practice and publishing. Profits from the company are used to fund the independent programme at MOT. MOT is a contemporary art gallery in East London, which has received funding from the Arts Council and is run by Chris Hammond. Exhibited artists include Martin Kippenberger, Simon Patterson, Martin Creed, Liam Gillick, Sarah Lucas, Matthew Collings, Matthew Higgs, Jeremy Deller and Mark Walllinger. The gallery has organized over 50 exhibitions including ‘Interzone’, ‘The Artist with Two Brains’ and ‘Plight’. This was Reid's first solo show at the gallery and included eight photocollages and two digital animations. In recent exhibitions at ‘East International’ and Transmission Gallery, Reid has made wall-based installation works by blowing up her smaller studio photographs as large photocopies or inkjets and applying them directly to the wall with gaffer tape. These large-scale wall colleges are site-specific and dominate these institutional spaces. For her exhibition at MOT, Reid chose to show the original small photograph-based works that inform these larger works. These are the raw hand-made prototypes at the core of her practice, usually only ever seen on the walls of her studio. The digital animations mark a development into new media for Reid’s work.
