The economic decline of Zimbabwe: Neither growth nor equity

Assesses the results of a range of policies in post-independence Zimbabwe intended to bring about "growth with equity" and explains the origins of the country's economic decline. Examines the politics of economic policy making after independence; Zimbabwe's growth performance; redistribution and rural welfare; economic objectives, public-sector deficits, and macroeconomic stability; money demand and stabilization; economic policy and investment; and labor market policies and outcomes. Draws lessons from Zimbabwe's experience.
