The pursuit of high quality, large area graphene has been a major research focus of contemporary materials science research, in the wake of the discovery of the multitude of exceptional properties exhibited by the material. The DPhil project was undertaken with the objective of developing an understanding of the growth of large graphene sheets by chemical vapour deposition (CVD), and also in the subsequent characterisation of their material properties.
