Luminescent transition metal complexes have attracted much attention in recent years due to their potential as phosphors in organic light-emitting devices, their use in sensory systems and their applications in bioimaging. It is often desirable to predict the photophysical properties of such compounds to allow tailored design, accentuating certain characteristics.
