This thesis investigates the capture of CO2 from the flue gas of coal-fired power plants using an aqueous solution of MEA, and the main aim of this thesis is the development of an optimized amine-based post-combustion CO2 capture (PCC) process that can be integrated optimally with a pulverized coal-fired power plant. The relevance of this thesis cannot be overemphasised because the reduction of solvent regeneration energy is the focus of most of the solvent-based post-combustion CO2 capture (PCC) research currently being performed globally.
