Historie a současnost vinohradnictví a vinařství na Mělnicku

SUMMARY This Bachelor Thesis discusses the past and present of viticulture and viniculture in the Melnik Region. The first mention of growing grapevine here comes from the times of princess Ludmila. The thesis deals with the period of a rise especially during the reign of Charles IV. as well as a fall during the wars and in the 19th century, when the vineyards were attacked by wine diseases. There were also the communist times when quantity was preferred to quality. Fortunately theis philosophy has passed and the wine growers are currently trying to produce high quality wines using modern technologies. The climate conditions for grapevine growing in the Melnik Region are not as favourable as in Moravia Wine Region. Despite of this fact there are interesting wines with a strong and unique charakter, which cannot be mistaken with others. We can certainly find terroir elements here, which reflect the unique charakter of Melnik Region wines together with the local wine growers style respecting the natural patterns
