New Forms of Fairy Tales and the Elements of Nonsense in Several Works of Anglo-American Children´s Literature

This thesis deals with the analysis of selected modern fairy tales (R. Dahl, J. Scieszka, T. Jones), while the main attention will be focused on the transformation of traditional structures (Propp) and the penetration of nonsense elements into the fairy tale genre. The theoretical introduction will outline the basic features and functions of traditional fairy tales (Propp, Tolkien) and it will also consider the beginnings of nonsense literature for children. The change of the form and the content as a distinctive feature of the modern and postmodern fairy tales is a crucial part of the thesis, which pays attention to the interpretation of the particular selected texts
