Lowland forests in Czech Republic

Novoměstská M. 2015: Lowland forests in Czech Republic - educational project. Bachelor thesis, Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. 56 pp. The main aim of this thesis is to inform ISCED 2 school pupils about the landscape of Czech Republic, specifically about the large herbivores role in the forest structure and with the traditional ways of forest management, through the use of educational program - tour in National Park Podyjí. This thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes the landscape development since the last ice age, emphasizes the importance of old or dead trees in forest and the introduction to NP Podyjí. The practical part describes the tour itself. The results of the knowledge test of the tour attendants are included in the thesis. The knowledge of lowland forests was significantly higher not only immediately after the tour, but also one year after the tour attendance. The educational program can thus be evaluated as permanent effective in the sense of gained knowledge about lowland forests
