The distribution of Al between octahedral and tetrahedral sites in MgAl2O4 spinel has been determined on quenched samples by high-resolution 27Al NMR spectroscopy. The relationships between T and degree of inversion, and between disorder and cell volume are analysed.-J.A.Z
