Partnership from the perspective of men and women

The present bachelor thesis focuses on partnerships between young adults both from a man's perspective and from the perspective of women. The aim of this study is to investigate the expectations of the partners involved in a relationship and to understand whether those expectations are based on gender stereotypes and roles. The theoretical part examines different attitudes and expectations of men and women in relationships. The practical part is based on qualitative research applying semi-structured interviews. Overall, the current study consisted of six samples, which were based on interviews with six volunteers (three pairs). Interviews were conducted with each partner separately. It was assumed that in the absence of a partner respondents would be more open and truthful. At first the information were processed under the pair's separately and subsequently compared with other pairs. As expected, differences were found between the expectations of men and women in relationships, which were based on gender roles
