Contemporary Dance Scene in the United Kingdom

This bachelor thesis deals with mapping of the current state of contemporary dance in the United Kingdom and its historical development, taking the political and economic situation of that time into account in particular. The British dance platform is described by means of concrete examples amongst which: dance education, the most significant festivals, theatres, dance support organisations, ways of funding of dance, or analysis of government documents belong. Considerable attention is paid to the most significant dance artists of British contemporary dance, most importantly to the life and works of dancer and choreographer Akram Khan
