Midwife in the care of a woman with cancer

The bachelor thesis deals with the role of midwife taking care of the woman with an oncological disease. The thesis is split into two parts, in to the theoretical and practical part. The target of bachelor thesis was to find out how the women cope with the consequences of tumorous disease. Two research questions were asked in the theoretical part: Which areas of the life of women were influenced by the tumorous disease? In what way did the women cope with the diagnosis of tumorous disease? In the practical part of the bachelor thesis, the investigation took place performed by the qualitative method of the interview. For the data collection, individual half-structured form of the talk was selected, the talk was split into the circles of questions prepared in advance, there were ten in total. The talks were conducted in the oncological and gynaecological ambulance in March and April 2014. The research file consisted of five women with the diagnosis of the tumorous disease coming into these ambulances. It was found out by the invetigation that the areas changed or disturbed most are nutrition, sexual relationships and psyche of woman. Two respondents R1 and R3 were after the treatment of malignant disease of ovaria and uterus and the remaining three respondents R2, R4 and R5 underwent the treatment of malignant disease of breast. In spite of the different affliction, all the questioned women were subject to a similar treatment procedure and their answers concerning the psychological aspects of their disease were similar. For all the five respondents, it was important to have a stabile family background giving them energy for the struggle with the disease. None of the respondents was left by their husband or partner during the treatment. Respondents R1, R2, R3 and R5 described the changes in their sexual life. It was first of all decrease of libido, lack of moistness of vagina and shame of women after the removal of breast as the unclothing before the partner represented a problem. The respondent R4 did not want to speak about this issue. All the respondents stated the problems with alimentation and sickness managed in another way by each of them. Coping with tumorous disease was difficult for the respondents; they agreed, however that accepting the diagnosis is individual but possible. The respondents were aware that coping with the disease was difficult not only for them, but also for their surroundings, mainly for partners.possibilities.
