Satellite towns and their impact on the landscape

In the first part of this thesis the origin and development of satellite towns in the Czech Republic were summarized and their negative and positive impacts were summed up there as well. Improving people's living standards are included among the positive impacts. Among the negative impacts of satellite towns there are included commuting to work, services and entertainment and a lifestyle different from the original population. For comparison, there has been mentioned the development of suburbanization in the USA and Europe. The second part of this thesis consists of the research of a particular satellite town. As a research place was selected the satellite town in village Otín, which is the local part of Jindřichův Hradec. There are 43 houses that were built in a South Bohemian style in two phases. The research was conducted by using questionnaires. The results from them were compiled into clear graphs. A built-up area and the need for car traffic were found as the greatest impacts on the landscape. To reduce the negative ones the support of the city would help it is mentioned in proposing solutions
