The Street Names in the town of Protivín

This diploma thesis deals with the names of streets and squares in the town of Protivín in the Písek district. The street names' examination based on archival sources begins in 1914 when the first street names were known and proceeds to present days. This development is divided into five historical periods which are organized as dictionary entries focused on changes of street names and their semantic motivation. Each period contains a classification according to particular semantic categories. A closer attention is paid to the changes of honorific names in particular historical periods and their occurrence in street names compared to the occurrence of non-honorific names.
