Cluster - modern concept or the instrument of competitiveness?

The subject of my thesis is the issues of clusters as the forms of co-operation and a description of its working in practice. The introduction of the theoretical part is devoted to the history of the cluster. It deals with the interpretation of the basic concepts, then describes the origin, development and financing of clusters. Further explains terms like facilitator and cluster initiative. Finally, it describes the main advantages and disadvantages of clusters. The practical part is focused on the description and analysis of two clusters situated in the Slovak Republic, especially in Trnava region. In the end of my thesis, I will evaluate and compare the individual clusters. Then I write the recommendation to their development in the future. The goal of this thesis is to determine whether the cluster as a form of co-operation is so beneficial as it is stated in the literature
