Great Britain, one of the most eurosceptic countries, resisted for decades to entry into the European integration project, even though it was Winston Churchill, who called for the creation of a united Europe. This paper aims to describe the historical position of the United Kingdom in integration efforts, shows the approach of individual countries' governments and their contribution to the british integration into the European Communities. The analytical part is devoted to the impact of Great Britain's membership in the European Union and shows the advantages and disadvantages of approach to the unified european currency.
