This thesis deals with the concept of flexicurity, which represents a modern approach to the issues of labour market in the European Union. The main goal of the thesis is to identify if, why and in which ways should the members of the European Union use flexicurity as a part of their employment policies. In order to fulfill this goal, a general part is presented first, then a practical example is used and finally there is an application part, which again results in general conclusions. The first chapter describes the theoretical framework of flexicurity and history of the European employment policy.
