Different types of landfills, their technical aspects and methods of depositing waste are described. The thesis also describes the main legislation concerning waste management in the Czech Republic and tries to point out material and energetic use of waste before landfilling. Recycling is considered to be important because it decreases the amount of waste stored in landfills. Composting and anaerobic digestion are the other methods of disposal.
