This thesis focuses on presenting Guy de Maupassant, a French writer of the second half of the 19th century, as a playwriter. The main objective of the thesis is to disclose the dramatic tendencies of the writer, who is primarily known for his prose, and to present all the seven completed dramatic pieces which are often neglected in favour of his more famous work. The thesis aims to showcase the nature and the position of the plays in the context of Guy de Maupassant´s whole work and their overall perception.
