Foreign language classes in Kindergarten

The thesis "Teaching a Foreign Language in Kindergarten" deals with foreign language education in preschool and its impact on foreign language education in primary school. The theoretical part defines the basic concepts related to preschoolers, the development specifics of preschool children, the importace of language and the development of verbal skills, and the origin of bilingualism and its risks. It also summarizes the views of experts on the early teaching of a foreign language, points out the difficulties that may occur in teaching a foreign language to preschool children, and, ultimately, focuses on appropriate methods and forms of teaching a foreign language in kindergarten. In the practical part, results of quantitative research are introduced. The research was conducted in the form of a survey and the respondents were teachers of primary schools and kindergartens. The aim was to find out how teaching of a foreign language in preschools translates into foreign language education at primary schools and if teachers perceive this activity to be effective. Furthermore, it was investigated whether there were conditions in the preprimary foreign language education permitting this initiative to be effective
