This work is the result of the study of in vitro antimicrobian activity of four sesquitepenic lactones (belenaline, calein F, glaucolid A and glaucolid D), isolated from vegetal species supposed to have medical uses. The lactone antimicrobian activity was tested against dematophites, yeast, gram negative bacteria as well as gram positive bacteria, using Halley’s method. The lactone antimicrobian activity was compared with the activity of two commercial-use antimicrobian agents (ketoconazol and oxitetracicline). The results indicate that lactones have a very low antimicrobian activity compared to that of commercial-use antimicrobian agents; however, the belenaline appearthy may bave an antifungical use, and aiso may increase its activity by ...
