Potential of wild, primitive and cultivated potato species in potato breeding programs

The bacherol thesis is focused on actual situation and potential of wild, primitive and cultivated potato species (genus Solanum) usage in programmes of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) breeding. The first part of the bacherol thesis describes history of potato domestication and gives basic information about potatoes - their biology, morphology and physiology. The second part is focused on the potato varietes and on problematic of potato breeding. The last part is focused on evaluation of present and future potential of wild, primitive and cultivated potato species in specific breeding programmes of cultivated potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.)
