ABSTRACT Dissertation thesis Theater for the Deaf is engaged in the artistic possibilities of interpreting theater productions into the sign language. The work first describes the basic hearing disabilities as well as pitfalls to which Deaf are exposed to. The text deals with the Deaf culture and the core part of the thesis is devoted to artistic interpretation, the various ways of its presentation and its appropriateness for the theater. Work describes the creative process of interpreted performance, ie. current practice of selection of the performances, today?s established cooperation between theaters and professional institutions for the hearing impaired, the financial demands of different ways of interpreting and such practical individu...
