Bachelor thesis ?Theatre architecture and its new social functions? in its first half maps the historical development of theatre architecture and defines the nature of theatre space while explaining the importance of theatre performance itself throughout the history. The crucial second part of thesis introduces three contemporary theatre architectural projects - Stadspodium Rotterdam, The Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre in Dallas and design of non realized project of new Ljubljana theatre. Thesis analyses these projects and tries to find common characteristics in their space planning. It is examined whether these properties and principles bear new social functions, or not.
