In this work I attempt to summarize the life and work of Sergei Vasiljevič Rachmaninov. He was one of the most important figures of the first half of the twentieth century. He achieved the highest posts as a composer, an interpreter and conductor. Proof of his exquisite piano playing are numerous recording which we still have today. It is interesting to note that it was the Japanese who first attempted to restore these recordings. Thanks to them, we are able to hear and appreciate the mastery, exceptional musicianship and technicel perfection of Rachmaninov. His piano works are at the pinnacie of the composition Word.
