The author's purpose is to name the acting processes. She reflects upon the goals that actors should have before they start to work and how they can discover new levels of acting while working on their stage role. The author deals with the complex possessions of an actor and tries to define the term self-direction. She is convinced that the process of searching is never ending and necessary component of the dramatic work. She reflects on how the dramatic work looks like when the actors allow themselves to be surprised by their own selves and everything that is tied to the work on their stage role.
