Parametric study of consolidation behaviour of improved embankments on soft ground is studied by using a numerical model based on Finite Element Method (FEM) in Plaxis version 8.3. This project is emphasis on parametric study of the consolidation behaviour of three finite element (FE) models of improved embankment with preloading, prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) and stone column. These three FE models are compared with unimproved embankment, which is no improvement technique applied. The comparison between four FE models is focused on the prediction of excess pore pressures dissipation, vertical and horizontal displacements.
