Chronicle of the Citizen Adrian Adalbert Battista (1463-1656)

The Bachelor's thesis Chronicle of the Citizen Adrian Adalbert Battista (1463-1656) from České Budějovice is focused on comparison of Battista's chronicle with other preserved chronicles of citizens from České Budějovice from the Early Modern Period. Part of the thesis is the list of references and sources and its appendix includes the scientific edition of Battista's Chronicle, the name and the local index, Battista's handwriting samples and the chart containing basic information about chronicles. The work is divided into three chapters. The first deals with city chronicles in the Early Modern Period. In the second, compilative one, all preserved chronicles of citizens of České Budějovice from the Early Modern Period with characteristic of particular chroniclers are briefly presented whereas more space is devoted to preserved chronicles. The third chapter is devoted to content of Battista's Chronicle, to analysis of the chronicle as historical source and to comparison of Battista's Chronicle with others chronicles of citizens from České Budějovice. A possibility of its use for further study is suggested in the end of the thesis
