My bachelor's thesis The First Audio-visual Experience (A Contribution of Developmental Psychology to Theory of Editing) is focused on a very early stage of infant development (up to the second year) when the first audio-visual experiences initiate the creation of basic cognitive structures - space, time, permanent objects and ?myself?. These structures anticipate the language structures. These terms represent the basic part of the film language based on nonsemantic perception. In this work I compare the knowledge of developmental psychology and film theories /Griffith, Vertov, Tarkovskij, Mitry, Brakhage) and focus on rhytm as a basic way to build cinematic space and time
