This thesis is a study of spanish organ music and especially of the life and work of Juan Baptista Cabanilllés. His music is presented here in comparison with other contemporary spanish autors and with regards to the specific features included in his compositions. In this context it is necessary to mention music forms of 16th and 17th century, which are characteristic not only for organ music but also for the other instruments. The most important form represented tiento, which for his diversity and variety of forms provides means for the complex creative expression.
