The comparison of the regional integrations MERCOSUR and NAFTA

The main goal of thesis is to compare two most important regional integrations in macroregion America (according to the classification of the World Trade Organization). They are the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Common Market of the South (MERCOSUR, Mercado Común del Sur). The first part is aimed at the economic characteristics of both regional integrations -- the development of the GDP, the development of the export, the development of the international trade in merchandise and services, etc. The second part deals with the theory of the regionalism applied to the NAFTA and the MERCOSUR. There are the motives which led to the establishment of the integration, the depth and the type of the integration and also the openness to third countries. In the final part of the thesis, both regional integrations are compared and the possibility of the establishment of the Free Trade Agreement of Americas (FTAA) is judged on the basis of the obtained data
