The Role of Neutrality in the EU

Neutrality is a political concept that can be observed in practice for several centuries. However, this concept is not an immutable but rather a variable one. The change of its form can also be seen in the evolvement of Swedish security policy. Sweden has long been seen as neutral state, but its security policy underwent a gradual transition within the years. Therefore, this thesis offers an analysis of transition of Swedish security policy since its beginning until nowadays and provides a closer focus on the mutual relationship of Swedish policy of neutrality and CSDP within the EU
