This thesis analyzes the effects of the global economic crisis on foreign direct investment in the period from 2008 to 2010 and describes changes in trends in FDI flows with respect to the previous period. In particular, how direct investors were affected and how they have changed their activities, which in turn affects FDI flows. The emphasis is on comparing how the role of developed and developing countries is changing. There are also presented estimates of FDI flows in the future
