Development and financing of Universities in V4 countries from 1989 to 2010

The Bachelor's thesis deals with development of higher education, which have undergone after the social changes in the Vysegrad countries after 1989. The main goal of the paper is to analyze the funding of public universities and to point out how the support of education affects the competitiveness of individual countries. The first part deals with general characteristics of education from the perspective of economic theory and benefits that flow from the support of education to whole society and individuals. The main part of my work describes the current situation of the distribution of funds from public sources in Czech Republic and Slovakia. It devotes the methodology of allocation of donations and contributions in details and ways of their calculations. In the study, there are outlined possible options how to increase level and quality of universities by better cooperation with private sector
