This work is theoretical. It consists of eight chapters including introduction, conclusion and references. In the beginning, methods of population censuses and data collection are described. A history of censuses since ancient times till 2011 follows and represents a bigger part of the work. In the next chapter are described censuses of population in several countries, concretely in Ireland, Sweden, Germany, France and Czech Republic. A migration related to population censuses is described in the last part. The work is supplemented by graphs comparing data from individual censuses. An appendix contains part of the Conference of European statisticians' recommendationsfor the 2010 censuses of population and housing
